UCS (unidentified creepy statues)

Creaks and groans came from the front of the town restaurant. I turned around afraid of what might be behind me. It turned out it was only the ancient door  moaning. I have impeccable hearing and heard the soft  murmuring outside. In this old abandoned town, murmuring  was not common. We only whispered or shouted, nothing in between. I went out to investigate. It’s a hobbie. In front, I saw these statues that I hadnever seen before. It seemed as if they were speaking under their breath. As soon as I touched one, it went silent. I pondered this on the way home yet never found an answer. Ever.
